Wegmans Recalls Chicken Nuggets Over Bone Fragments: What You Need to Know

Wegmans Food Markets has announced a recall of its popular Food You Feel Good About (FYFGA) Chicken Breast Nuggets, citing possible contamination by bone fragments. The recall was initiated on Friday, January 24, following multiple consumer complaints regarding the presence of bone pieces in the chicken nuggets. The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a public health alert to inform consumers about this potential hazard.

The recall specifically targets the Wegmans Family Pack Fully Cooked Breaded Chicken Breast with Rib Meat, available in 46 oz. packages. These products were sold at Wegmans locations across several states, including Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Consumers are advised not to consume the affected chicken nuggets and to return them to their nearest Wegmans store for a full refund.

Wegmans emphasized the importance of ensuring customer safety and urged anyone in possession of the recalled product to take immediate action. The grocer has extended its support to customers by offering a dedicated helpline at 1-855-934-3663. This line is open from Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m., and on weekends from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., to provide additional information and answer any queries related to the recall.

The recall was prompted by reports of extraneous material contamination, specifically bone fragments found in the chicken nuggets. FSIS's involvement underlines the seriousness of the issue, as the presence of bone pieces poses potential choking hazards and other safety risks. Consumers are strongly discouraged from consuming the product and are advised to check their freezers for any affected packages.
