Venture Capitalist Regrets $8,000 Transformation into Cat

Jolene Dawson, a 29-year-old VC from Gold Coast, now wishes she hadn’t carried through with her plan to withdraw. She estimates her feline makeover cost her approximately $8,000 (AUD $12,000). Our TikTok user kept a detailed archive of her journey on other social media platforms. Her first blog posts about her unusual transformation have been knocked off-line by serious complications she’s since experienced.

Dawson’s subsequent procedures involved “experimental” methods to widen her nostrils and chisel her cheekbones to make her look less Asian. The intent was to achieve a cat-like appearance, an objective that she acknowledges from today’s standpoint from the height of arrogance was delusional. Problems soon developed as her body began to actively reject the filler. This led to the filler traveling all over her face and triggered painful side effects.

“I have been in a lot of pain because of it,” Dawson stated, detailing the distressing aftermath of her decision. At first, she was thrilled with her makeover. Now, she has chosen to dissolve all fillers and all other implants completely to work toward a healthier place.

Dawson said, “I recognize how stupid this was. Here, she shares the most impactful lessons she learned along her journey. She cautioned others against pursuing experimental procedures for superficial reasons, asserting, “I just want to advise against ever getting experimental procedures, and any procedure for the wrong reason.”

With a knowing smile, Dawson confessed that she was not completely altruistic in her goals. “I’ll be honest with you, and I don’t want to admit this, but I was just doing this for attention,” she confessed. First, she assumed the changes would be for a short period of time and selected reversible materials and methods. Never did she anticipate that her body would begin to fight back against treatment.

“This was always intended to be a publicity stunt,” she explained, as she acknowledged the risks involved in altering one’s appearance for external validation. Dawson was careful to stress that she has “never considered myself a cat. This assertion truly represents the chasm between what she planned and the actual effects of her actions.

As Dawson continues down her own road to recovery, she shared with me her optimism on being here today. First, she acknowledges that self-love and acceptance is essential and that it’s more important to focus on healthy versus looking healthy. She had previously pursued creating cat-like aesthetics. Now, she is faced with healing and coming to terms with the long-term effects of her decision.
