Jack McGowan and Kathryn recently tied the knot in a remarkable wedding ceremony in Northern Ireland, capturing the attention of media outlets and social media alike. The newlywed couple was able to host 250 guests to their glamorous nuptials, which boasted a star-studded roster. Their jaw-dropping bridal party featured 95 bridesmaids, with ages between six and forty. This spectacular event captured national attention and praise, including from McGowan, who called the day “absolutely brilliant.”
As with most big ideas, the notion of a larger bridal party began with a much more basic agenda. Initially, I didn’t plan on having more than seven or eight bridesmaids. Kathryn’s strong wish to invite as many of her friends and fellow dancers as possible soon multiplied this number dramatically. She shared her thoughts on the unconventional choice, stating, “I was thinking and thinking about how it was going to work and I thought in my head, what’s the biggest number of bridesmaids I could have?”
Even with a multitude of bridesmaids, the wedding scene stayed calm and merry all day long. Kathryn commented, “These girls know how to get in formation and line up amazingly fast. Focusing on the personalization for each of the bridal party members, they coordinated attire but not exactly the same, which brought a great creative style to the day.
The very pleased Scots groom on the steps of the church after the ceremony. And I’m used to these huge events packed with a lot of our dancers,” he said. So, I strangely anticipated no less. Jack’s excitement about the celebration was contagious, pointing out that it was beyond their wildest dreams.
We loved hearing about how Kathryn considered who to include in her bridal party, and how she wanted to make everyone feel represented. The only girls that aren’t close to her at all. Truth be told, she’s poked fun at them in the past for being ‘clunky’ or ‘unphotogenic’. Most congressional observers would have scoffed at the prospect of a huge democratic party. Kathryn insisted fervently, “You don’t want people who’ll steal your thunder in your own photos,” referencing her desire to have all the attention on the couple.
The wedding festivities consisted of dancing and piping from morning until night, filling the air with a sense of celebration and mirth. Local and world media outlets were eager to tell the couple’s extraordinary tale. Further BBC News and New York Post features helped spread the word about this incredible display of love.
