Sofia Richie Grainge Opens Up About Postpartum Preeclampsia Ordeal

Sofia Richie Grainge recently shared her challenging experience with postpartum preeclampsia, a condition that necessitated her return to the hospital just two days after the birth of her daughter. Her medical team had previously induced labor at 38 weeks due to complications from preeclampsia during pregnancy. Despite a "fantastic delivery," Sofia faced severe swelling and dangerously high blood pressure, which required urgent medical attention.

At 32 weeks pregnant, Sofia reported feeling unusually tired and crampy, with her blood pressure reading alarmingly high at 165 over 103. These symptoms were indicative of preeclampsia, a condition she had already been managing during her pregnancy. After giving birth, her symptoms worsened, with severe swelling developing within 48 hours postpartum.

Her husband rushed her to the hospital where they monitored her condition for six days. Initially admitted for 24 hours, Sofia's stay extended as doctors worked to stabilize her blood pressure and assess the effects of postpartum preeclampsia. This condition can occur shortly after childbirth and poses serious health risks if not properly managed.
