The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a voluntary recall of certain batches of MadeGood granola bars due to potential metal fragments. The announcement was made on Tuesday, following the discovery of the issue by Riverside Natural Foods, the parent company of MadeGood. This precautionary measure stems from consumer complaints about small, flat brush bristles found in the granola bars, which were manufactured between January and November 2024.
The recall affects products sold in the U.S., Canada, and other international markets. Although Riverside Natural Foods has received only seven complaints amidst hundreds of millions of bars sold, they have chosen to initiate the recall to safeguard consumer safety. The company insists that it is highly unlikely that any metal pieces are present in the products, highlighting the isolated nature of the manufacturing issue, which has since been resolved.
The FDA's announcement serves to inform consumers of the potential risk, as metal fragments can cause injury if ingested. The recall specifically targets certain batches of MadeGood granola bars, allowing consumers to identify and return potentially affected products. Riverside Natural Foods is working diligently to ensure the quality and safety of their products going forward.
