The highly anticipated documentary "Larissa: The Other Side of Anitta" is set to premiere on Netflix on March 6, 2023. Directed by Pedro Cantelmo and João Wainer, the film delves into the life of Brazilian pop sensation Anitta, whose real name is Larissa de Macedo Machado. This new documentary seeks to explore the contrast between Anitta's vibrant stage persona and her more personal life as Larissa.
Anitta herself initiated the project, reaching out to Cantelmo to document her journey. The two share a unique bond, having grown up together in the working-class neighborhood of Honório Gurgel in Rio de Janeiro. Their childhood friendship sets the stage for an intimate portrayal, featuring scenes that push the boundaries of conventional documentary filmmaking. Notably, the film includes moments where Anitta and Cantelmo appear in various states of undress and share flirtatious interactions.
Cantelmo, who has harbored a childhood crush on Anitta, uses these dynamics to enhance the film's narrative tension. The filmmakers appear to have intentionally highlighted the sexual tension between Anitta and Cantelmo, employing it for dramatic effect. This approach allows viewers a rare glimpse into the complexities of Anitta's personal relationships.
One of the documentary's more provocative scenes portrays Anitta and Cantelmo sharing a shower, both naked. During this scene, Anitta playfully remarks in Portuguese,
“No, I know how to shower,” she tells him in Portuguese. “It’s you who doesn’t know.”
The film aims to provide a raw and unfiltered view of Anitta's life, contrasting her public image with her private self. This is not Anitta's first collaboration with Netflix; her previous documentary "Vai Anitta" released in 2018, offered fans an insight into her rise to fame.
