Luna, a two-year-old Havana Brown cat has been happily clawing her way to front page news lately. She was reunited with her owner in Darlington, England four months after she went missing — more than 300 miles away. Luna flourished independently in the gardens of a hotel in Scotland. Her rescuer, Sophie Carty, was shocked to discover her condition.
For pet parent Sophie Carty, she’d spent hours looking for her lifelong companion Luna, thinking she’d never find her again. So when, out of the blue, he learned that Luna had been chosen, Carty’s relief and joy was overwhelming. I just couldn’t believe it—that was about a six-hour round trip from where Luna disappeared. We made the long trip to pick her up and brought her home,” she remembered.
After being discovered, Luna was rushed to a veterinary clinic. Luckily, she had a microchip, so Carty could be immediately alerted to her cat’s location. As Carty considered the riddle of Luna’s travels, if only she could talk, we could finally get to the bottom of why she was put there in the first place.
Despite her frightening ordeal, Luna is on the mend at home now. Carty said it took awhile for Luna to adjust and regain her spirit. Though admittedly lethargic, Luna cried the first few nights she was home. She was very lethargic and appeared to be paralyzed in her rear end,” she wrote. After a course of treatment with antibiotics and painkillers, she has made a remarkable recovery. After the emergency trip to the vets, antibiotics and painkillers, she is like a new cat,” continued Carty.
Now that Luna’s getting used to Charty’s home life, Carty has been giving her all the cuddles. She has regained her mobility (with assistance) and is more than happy to be back home with us. She’s not used to getting all these belly rubs and head pats, and she’s certainly not complaining,” Carty said.
As for Carty, she jokingly suggested that perhaps Luna was afraid of someone discovering her secret long trip. And I can only guess that she needed to pamper herself with some time at the beach.”, she continued. She focused on the wild journey her dog took.
