Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have joined forces with José Andrés' World Central Kitchen Foundation to bring relief to victims and first responders of the recent Los Angeles fires. Since the fires began on January 7, the couple has devoted considerable time and resources to aid recovery efforts. Despite some criticism labeling them as "disaster tourists," insiders emphasize that their actions are driven by genuine empathy rather than self-promotion.
Markle contributed to the relief efforts by donating bags filled with new clothing and beauty products. Despite her high-profile status, she attempted to maintain a low profile, wearing all-black workout attire and an "LA" baseball cap while assisting with distributions outside the Pasadena Convention Center. The Duchess of Sussex's deep connection to Los Angeles, her birthplace and childhood home, adds a personal dimension to her involvement.
The couple's commitment extends beyond immediate relief efforts. They have opened their $14 million Montecito mansion to friends and family affected by the fires and made an undisclosed financial donation to local charities. Their efforts have not gone unnoticed, with Pasadena Mayor Victor Gordo stating that their presence has significantly boosted the morale of first responders and victims alike.
“They want to be as helpful as they can be … we visited with some of the affected families in some of the burned-out areas in Pasadena and Altadena,” said Victor Gordo.
Markle also volunteered her time with Altadena Teen Girls, an initiative founded by 14-year-old Avery Colvert. The organization aims to help teenage girls affected by the fires restore a sense of normalcy in their lives.

In addition to Markle and Harry’s involvement, other celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Charli XCX, Max Greenfield, and Mindy Kaling have also contributed to these efforts. An insider confirmed their genuine commitment to the cause.
“They have invested significant time and resources, they have donated money and essential items,” shared an insider.
Despite the scrutiny, community members express appreciation for the couple’s endeavors.
“They’re just very caring people who are concerned for their friends and neighbors," remarked Victor Gordo.
