McDonald’s New Concept CosMc’s Launches with Unique Beverages

McDonald’s recently opened one of their new small-format restaurants, called CosMc’s, featuring a drive-thru only restaurant. As of this writing today, there is still just a single CosMc’s on the ground, located in Normal, Illinois, USA. CosMc’s, launched in late 2023, became an instant hit. Its pioneering assortment of drinks lures in consumers looking for fun new drink alternatives.

The menu at CosMc’s features a selection of unique drinks that highlight the restaurant’s beverage-forward concept. One particularly eye-catching item is the Iced French Toast Galaxy Latte. This creamy fall favorite is made with Starbucks® blonde espresso and oat milk, sweetened with maple and finished with a cinnamon sauce drizzle. This drink has garnered attention for its creative flavor profile.

Retailers like CosMc’s have featured the Sour Cherry Energy Burst in addition to their lattes. This bobalicious beverage incorporates fruity boba to make this summer sip super refreshing and fun! Another standout is the Sprite Moonsplash, a sparkling Sprite infused with citrus and sweet vanilla, garnished with dried blueberries and a lemon wheel over ice. Order the Chai Frappe Burst for a refreshing drink treat! This amazing drink is a mix of a blended Chai Frappé and sweet popping boba, crowned with real whipped cream and finished off with cinnamon flavor drizzle.

In a recent earnings call, McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski shared the company’s new strategy for diversifying its beverage portfolio. He particularly highlighted the very strategic role of drinks in their broader portfolio.

As part of its strategy, McDonald’s plans to incorporate select drinks from CosMc’s into its regular menu later this year. The exact drinks that are going to roll out to regular McDonald’s restaurants have not been revealed. The firm will work with specific franchisees to pilot some of CosMc’s proprietary beverages on their menus.

This launch of CosMc’s signals McDonald’s willingness to innovate their brand and react to consumer trends that desire more customized beverage experiences like some other chains. The fast-food giant is really looking to capitalize on the truly amazing things learned during the rollout. They’re using it to potentially explore the power of this new fad.
