Manhattan Banker Faces Rape and Sexual Abuse Charges: Court Awaits Verdict

A 38-year-old Manhattan banker, identified as Harris, is confronting serious legal charges after being arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court on Thursday. The charges stem from an alleged incident on February 25, where Harris reportedly assaulted a woman in her home. Prosecutors assert that Harris forcibly removed the victim's clothing before pinning her down and committing the heinous act. During the attack, Harris allegedly insulted the victim, calling her a "f–king bitch" and claimed she deserved the assault.

Harris is currently employed in energy and infrastructure finance at Investec. However, his professional background is extensive, having spent 11 years at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC), where he served as the director of structured and project finance. In 2022, he transitioned to SMBC Nikko Securities. Despite these serious allegations, Harris' attorney, Jason Goldman, maintains his client's innocence, expressing confidence that the case will be dismissed.

Residing in a luxurious two-bedroom, two-bath apartment in the prestigious Brooklyn Point building in Downtown Brooklyn, Harris' lifestyle reflects his successful career. A comparable unit in the same building recently sold for $2.6 million. Currently, Harris is free on a $150,000 cash bail, an amount requested by prosecutors. His next court appearance is scheduled for March 11.

Harris' LinkedIn profile provides insight into his professional journey, showcasing his tenure at SMBC and SMBC Nikko Securities and highlighting his role as a bookrunner on US deals at Investec. Despite the gravity of the charges, Harris continues to maintain his professional presence.
