Legal Drama Unfolds: Nicolas Cage Exits Lawsuit Over Son’s Alleged Assault

Nicolas Cage finds himself out of a legal battle as Christina Fulton, his ex-partner, dismisses her claims against him in a lawsuit that accused him of enabling their son Weston Coppola Cage's allegedly reckless lifestyle. The lawsuit revolved around an alleged assault on Fulton by Weston at her Los Angeles home. While the claims against Nicolas Cage were dismissed with prejudice, Fulton continues to pursue legal action against their son.

Fulton accused Nicolas of failing to secure psychiatric help for Weston, who has pleaded not guilty to assault with a deadly weapon. She alleged that Nicolas contributed to Weston's mental health crisis by consuming alcohol with him despite knowing his history of substance abuse. According to the lawsuit, Nicolas has bailed Weston out of jail multiple times and failed to intervene in his son's life despite knowing the potential danger he posed to others.

"Weston has a long history of mental and psychological disorder and a history of committing violent assault and battery and harming numerous individuals," – Fulton

The incident in question reportedly named Weston as a suspect in a battery report. In response, Weston's attorney labeled Fulton's allegations as "absurd and frivolous." Meanwhile, Weston claimed that his mother was the one who needed help, further intensifying the family dispute.

Fulton expressed her heartbreak over suing her own son, stating that she felt she had no other option. Despite dropping her claims against Nicolas Cage, she remains firm in her pursuit of legal proceedings against Weston.

"Weston Coppola is a 34-year-old man," – Nicolas Cage's attorney

"Mr. Cage does not control Weston’s behavior in any manner and is not responsible for Weston’s alleged assault of his mother," – Nicolas Cage's attorney

The lawsuit alleged that Nicolas Cage should have been aware of the risks posed by Weston due to his documented history of violence and instability. However, legal representatives for Cage argued that he does not have control over Weston's actions, emphasizing the latter's status as an adult.

"Nicolas knew or should have known that Weston posed a serious and imminent danger to others, including Plaintiff, based on his documented history of violent assaults, substance abuse, and mental instability," – Fulton
