Katy Perry Joins Historic All-Female Space Mission with Blue Origin

Katy Perry made headlines on her recent journey to space, joining a historic all-female crew aboard Blue Origin’s New Shepard 31 flight. The mission launched at 9:30 a.m. and marked a significant milestone as it became the first all-female crew to visit space since Soviet cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova in 1963. Perry soon found himself aboard an impressive fleet that featured iconic journalist Gayle King and Lauren Sánchez. The team included astronaut Amanda Nguyen, NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, and filmmaker Kerianne Flynn.

Her custom spacesuit proudly displayed her name, Perry. It commemorated her groundbreaking 2010 anthem “Firework” with a drawing of an exploding, colorful firework. The suit was unique and memorable with the addition of a daisy flower. This flower represents her daughter, Daisy, whom she has with actor Orlando Bloom. The mission was not only a nod to women’s achievements in various fields but highlighted the importance of representation in science and technology.

In total, the spaceflight lasted just under 10 minutes. Wendy went on social media to set the record straight for 11 minutes. The fast-food chain took the opportunity to reference Perry’s 2008 hit “I Kissed a Girl,” stating, “When we said women in stem this isn’t what we meant,” showcasing their playful approach to the event.

Perry’s historic $350 billion venture was hailed and scorned by some of the country’s most illustrious public servants. Don’t think comedians Amy Schumer and Olivia Wilde pulled any punches. These women, along with actresses Emily Ratajkowski and Olivia Munn, helped spread awareness that shut down the mission.

Even though the move has been criticized, Perry’s involvement is still a major step towards greater female inclusion in space exploration. The crew’s accomplishments are in harmony with Perry’s continued activism for women’s rights and empowerment across every discipline.
