Jonny Wilkinson Champions Mental Health Awareness Through New Campaign

Rugby union great Jonny Wilkinson is perhaps best known for his last-minute drop-goal which won England the Rugby World Cup in 2003. Today, he advocates for mental health initiatives. Since retiring from rugby in 2014, Wilkinson has been an open book about his mental health challenges. Outside of athletics, he’s faced similar obstacles of adapting to new life after his professional sports career. Now in 2023, he’s still on fire about the journey he traveled. Underneath the surface, he digs deep into the insecurities he struggled with as an elite pro athlete.

Wilkinson is uncompromisingly committed to mental health advocacy. He has joined forces with Milk & More, a Surrey-based milk delivery firm. Together, they are working to popularize a set of daily wellbeing routines that aim to enhance mental health among their customers. As part of this initiative, Milk & More’s milk deliverers – experts in delivering first thing in the morning! – will demonstrate these routines on their daily rounds!

On a visit to Surrey last month, Wilkinson met with local communities and took part in activities that emphasize the need for putting mental health first. Mental health can happen to anybody, he said, noting that it does not distinguish between success and non-success. His own struggles with self-doubt have been thoroughly chronicled and are a testimony to the continued fight that countless individuals face.

Wilkinson’s Milk & More campaign promotes this as an everyday routine. It makes way for honest discussions about mental health. He hopes that by telling his story, he can lessen the stigma and help others know it’s okay to seek support. Wilkinson’s entire platform focuses on equipping people to make positive mental shifts. He enjoys the impact that it has on adults, telling everybody that feels like they’re going through something, that they’re not.

Since retiring from professional rugby, Wilkinson has stayed closely engaged with campaigns focused on mental health. His passion for bringing awareness and being there for others shows his awareness of the complexities surrounding mental health issues. He’s recently collaborated with Milk & More. Partnerships like these are creating real change and garnering a positive impact on the community.
