Jack Percival’s Journey: A 400-Mile Walk for Men’s Mental Health and Homelessness

Jack Percival, a 30-year-old former golf course manager, is on a mission to raise awareness of men's mental health issues. He is undertaking an ambitious 400-mile walk from Surrey to Glasgow. This journey not only aims to shed light on mental wellbeing but also supports Percy's Homeless Hub, an NGO he founded in honor of a woman who cared for him during his teenage years when he experienced homelessness. Since January, Jack has been walking an average of 20 miles a day, and he has now reached the north of England.

Jack's determination stems from personal experience with mental health challenges that surfaced a year ago. As a father of two, he seeks to inspire other men facing difficult times to find strength and positivity. His ultimate destination is Ibrox Stadium, the home of his beloved Rangers Football Club. His journey is also a fundraising effort for Percy's Homeless Hub, which operates a soup kitchen in Croydon feeding up to 150 people weekly and offers detox assistance for addicts.

"But I am getting so many nice messages of support it is keeping me going."

Jack's journey is not without its challenges. The physical toll of walking such distances daily is considerable, yet his resolve remains unshaken. He hopes to demonstrate the power of resilience and the importance of mental health care through his actions.

"I want to prove to men who are in a horrible space in their lives that they can do something positive."

With each step, Jack is not only moving closer to Glasgow but also advancing the cause of mental health awareness and support for the homeless. His initiative reflects a personal commitment to addressing the issues he has endured and transcended.

"There have been times during this walk where I am dragging my feet at half-a-mile an hour."
