The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a significant recall of International Delight coffee creamer varieties due to quality concerns. More than 12,500 cases of the popular creamers have been recalled from stores across 31 states, including Florida, Texas, and New York. Among the varieties affected are the International Delight Cinnabon Classic Cinnamon Roll and Hazelnut creamers. The voluntary recall was initiated on February 21, but no termination date has been issued.
The FDA has categorized the recalled products as a Class II risk, indicating that they may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences. The recalled coffee creamers were identified by a producing plant code of 51-4114 S. The International Delight Hazelnut creamer had a best-by date of July 2, while the Cinnabon Classic Cinnamon Roll creamer had a best-by date of July 3.
Danone North America, the parent company of International Delight, made the decision to initiate the recall. The company has offices in Colorado and New York and has taken responsibility for addressing the issue.
“We take every concern to heart, because this is not the quality we strive for.” – Danone North America representative
The FDA's classification of the recall as a Class II risk highlights the seriousness of the potential health consequences. However, Danone North America has assured consumers that there is no immediate food safety issue.
“While we know this is disappointing for our creamer fans, testing data has confirmed that this is not a food safety issue,” – Danone representative
In addition to addressing quality concerns, Danone North America has emphasized their commitment to consumer safety and satisfaction.
“We chose to voluntarily recall these isolated products out of an abundance of caution while we address the quality issue.” – Danone representative
