The Hull 10K, a celebrated charity run founded in memory of Jane Tomlinson, will see a significant change in its route for the 2025 event. Originally set to take place in Hull city centre, the race will now start and finish at Craven Park, home of Hull Kingston Rovers, due to ongoing roadworks affecting the A63. This decision aims to maintain the event’s accessibility while ensuring a smooth experience for participants.
Jane Tomlinson, who passed away from cancer in 2007, established the event as a way to raise funds for charity. Since then, it has evolved into a significant annual occasion organized by Run For All. Over the years, the Hull 10K has attracted thousands of runners, raising nearly £2 million for various local charities. The enduring legacy of Ms. Tomlinson is embodied in this event, which serves as a tribute to her remarkable endurance and commitment to fundraising.
The 2025 race will not only feature the new starting and finishing point but will also guide participants through East Park. This picturesque route change is seen as an opportunity to enhance the experience for both runners and spectators alike. Siobhan Curtis, marketing and communications director at Run For All, emphasized the importance of adapting to the ongoing roadworks:
"The new route for 2025 comes after working closely with Hull City Council to ensure we can bring the event to the city whilst ongoing highways works in the centre meant the yearly iteration of the route was unusable."
The Hull 10K is scheduled for June 8, 2025, and will continue its tradition of supporting local causes. This edition will be sponsored by Ineos, a chemicals firm that is committed to giving back to the community by providing 50 free places for local residents. This initiative aims to encourage more community involvement and participation in a run that has become synonymous with charity and local pride.
For over a decade, Run For All has organized this notable event, making a significant impact on the community. The funds raised through the Hull 10K have supported numerous charities within the region, underlining the event's role as a vital contributor to local philanthropic efforts.
