Babydog the Bulldog Captures Hearts in Official Government Portrait

Babydog, a 60-pound, tan-and-white English bulldog with a distinctive pink tongue that peeks over her tiny teeth, has become a beloved figure in West Virginia politics. The pet of U.S. Senator Jim Justice, Babydog has gained widespread popularity, garnering nearly 10,000 followers on X and Instagram combined. Recently, she made headlines with her first official government portrait, a moment described by the media as "Babydog's big moment."

As a fixture in West Virginia politics, Babydog is no stranger to the public eye. Her presence was felt during Justice’s Senate campaign last year, where she played a key role. Her social media accounts, where she shares her adventures and love for Wendy’s nuggets, have further endeared her to the public.

“With an unwavering belief in Jim’s leadership, Babydog represents the genuine enthusiasm and trust West Virginians have in his ability to bring positive change,” – Justice's campaign website.

Babydog has been seen in various photos sauntering around government buildings and even socializing with Vice President JD Vance. Her charm and personality have made her a popular figure, not only among constituents but also within the political sphere.

During a recent event at the Republican National Convention in July, Babydog stole the show by prancing onto the stage and obediently sitting on a black leather chair while Senator Justice delivered his speech. Her presence was met with admiration and applause from attendees.

“I know that a lot of you want to meet my little buddy, so if Babydog could come on out here,” – Jim Justice.

The official government portrait of Babydog was snapped by her social media account while Senator Justice took his official photo. This portrait marks a significant milestone in Babydog's journey as a political mascot, further solidifying her status as a beloved companion to Senator Justice and a symbol of his campaign.
