In a recent appearance on The View, Joe Biden defended his former Vice President Kamala Harris against criticisms she faced during her presidential campaign. As it turned out, this wide-ranging interview became Biden’s first since leaving the White House. Biden was responding to the criticism Harris faced after she told a debate moderator that she would change “a thing” about his presidency. He went on to explain her remarks, arguing that they had been misconstrued. Biden believes Harris meant she would not alter the successes they achieved together, emphasizing her independence and individuality as a candidate.

She was in every victory we accomplished,” he said. This statement reinforced Biden’s view of Harris as a capable leader in her own right, fostering her ability to maintain her identity while serving as vice president.
Throughout the interview, Sunny Hostin pressed hard with tough questions over allegations against Biden. She pointed out accusations that he pressured Harris not to distance herself from his agenda while they campaigned. Biden firmly denied these claims, stating, “I did not advise her to say that number one, like I said I was vice president, I understand the role.” His statements were meant to dispel the impression that he was orchestrating Harris’s campaign strategy.
For starters, Biden exaggerated his own administration’s wins, bragging that he left President Donald Trump “the strongest economy the world ever seen.” He was especially proud of what he and Harris were able to do together in the White House. “We did a helluva job, I think,” he said.
The conversation underscored their working relationship, with Biden emphasizing that despite their disagreements, they collaborated effectively to achieve significant outcomes for the country. He reiterated, “I think she was talking about she wouldn’t have changed the successes we had, not opposed to changing anything at all.”
