Paige DeSorbo Advocates for Arranged Marriages During Drew Barrymore Show

Paige DeSorbo, the influencer and podcaster extraordinaire, as well as “Summer House” cast member, recently took a seat next to Drew Barrymore and Ross Mathews at the Drew’s News desk. Once at Drew, they dove into a spirited “Drew Debate.” The event’s focus was on the latest tech craze that lets parents “swipe right” on dating apps for their kids. DeSorbo, who recently became single after her split from fellow reality star Craig Conover, expressed her support for the trend, aligning herself with the 21% of the audience who agreed with it.

The issue they debated brought to light a newfound trend in which parents become increasingly involved in their children’s dating lives. While many in the audience reacted skeptically, DeSorbo emphasized her belief that arranged marriages could be beneficial if guided by parents. She stated, “I think that arranged marriage should come back because I want it.”

DeSorbo’s dating life has been a major storyline ever since she revealed her split from Conover in December 2024. Their ever-evolving relationship—which was never an easy one—took viewers on an emotional rollercoaster ride during all of Season 9 of “Summer House.” On an episode of the Summer House After Show, she shared her thoughts about Conover. She told them that his assaults made it impossible for her to have a private experience on momentous occasions.

“Or anytime there was something and it was for me — it was my friend’s wedding or a family wedding — he would find a way to make it about him and make me have a bad time. It was just embarrassing.” – Paige DeSorbo

DeSorbo has survived and moved on from her former romance. She remains emotionally tethered to her parents, often seeking their advice and counsel. She articulated the same concerns as her classmate, Hannah Berner. We learned that Hannah expressed a clear wish for her parents to take an active role in her dating life. DeSorbo remarked, “I feel like when I meet my husband I’ll want to call him before I call my dad.”

DeSorbo added that she felt ashamed and embarrassed for her past relationship with Conover. She candidly revealed how she would hold on to career milestones for herself because she was fearful of his response. She responded that she realized she hadn’t given him a reason to celebrate her since she made the decision to not share those successes with him.

At the Drew’s News desk, the conversation shifted to DeSorbo’s reactionary take on dating these days. It provided a window into her life after going through a separation. As she settles into life as a single woman, we’re optimistic that her introspection can help her grow into a still romantic partner one day.
