Houghton Regis has celebrated the opening of its new leisure and community centre entertainment centre, an investment of £8.2 million into the communities lifestyle and facilities. The Houghton Regis Leisure and Community Centre is located on Parkside Drive. Whether you’re an artist, a musician, someone who loves the outdoors or a history buff, everyone can find a home at this unique facility. This new centre replaces the previous Kingsland Campus site, introducing modern amenities to the community.
The centre features a 25m swimming pool, designed with competitive swimmers in mind. It has a moveable floor learner pool, making it a perfect fit for those just starting out. The facility includes a state of the art fitness suite, group exercise studios and squash courts. Such diversity ensures that there is something for everyone to experience and enjoy.
Total project cost of £25 million. It has enjoyed considerable financial support, including a £20 million government Local Growth Grant, matched with additional financial support from Central Bedfordshire Council. The centre is operated by Everyone Active, an organization dedicated to promoting active living through various recreational and fitness programs.
