Wiltshire Council has approved the plans for a new leisure centre in Trowbridge, with construction set to commence on April 7. The £25 million development, strategically located by Bythesea Road, will be led by Pellikaan Construction. This state-of-the-art facility promises to be a hub of activity and community engagement, offering an array of amenities designed to cater to diverse age groups and interests.
The leisure centre will feature a six-lane, 25-meter swimming pool and a learner pool, providing ample space for swimmers of all abilities. Fitness enthusiasts will benefit from a gym equipped with 120 exercise studios, two additional studios, and an immersive spin studio. These facilities are expected to support a wide variety of fitness classes and individual workouts.
Community interaction is a key focus for the new centre. It will house a community meeting room and a café, creating spaces for socializing and gatherings. Young visitors can enjoy an adventure play space, while older residents will have access to a "live well suite," specifically designed to promote health and wellness among senior citizens.
As construction begins, the East Wing car park will be closed to the public, facilitating the building process. This temporary closure ensures that Pellikaan Construction can efficiently manage the site's development. Once completed, the leisure centre is expected to enhance the local community's quality of life, providing facilities that promote physical activity and social cohesion.
