Pelvic Health Concerns: Survey Reveals Women’s Struggles with Unanswered Questions

A recent survey conducted between February 7 and February 13, 2025, by Talker Research, commissioned by Intimina, sheds light on the challenges faced by American women regarding pelvic floor health. The survey, which included 2,000 participants, highlights a significant gap in understanding and addressing these issues. The findings reveal the profound impact of pelvic floor problems on women's physical, emotional, and mental well-being.

Gen Z women reported an average of 11 unanswered health questions, while baby boomers had around five. Overall, the average woman has eight unresolved health inquiries. This lack of clarity affects various aspects of life, with 42% of women acknowledging the detrimental effect on their emotional health and 39% on their mental well-being. Physical health and fitness routines also suffer, as noted by 31% of the respondents.

The path to obtaining accurate information about pelvic floor issues is often arduous. On average, women require three appointments before receiving the correct diagnosis. This delay in receiving proper care can lead to a decline in both physical and emotional health.

"It's concerning that so many women are left in limbo when it comes to understanding and addressing their pelvic floor health," – Dunja Kokotovic, Intimina Global Brand Manager.

The survey results also indicate that younger women are more speculative about their health. Gen Z respondents shared an average of five personal theories regarding their health conditions, compared to two theories among baby boomers.

The financial burden of managing pelvic floor health is notable, with women spending an average of $334.50 monthly on maintenance or improvement strategies. Furthermore, these concerns have tangible impacts on women's careers, as 39% have taken time off work due to pain or discomfort caused by pelvic floor issues. Nearly half of the respondents (47%) feel that these health concerns prevent them from reaching specific milestones in life.

In addressing these issues, women identified age 40 as a pivotal point when they become most motivated to seek answers to their health-related questions.

"When women don't receive the proper diagnosis right away, they can't get the care they need, which often leads to a decline in their physical and emotional well-being. We are dedicated to educating women about the symptoms and signs of pelvic floor issues, empowering them to seek answers and treatment earlier." – Dunja Kokotovic, Intimina Global Brand Manager.
