Major Recall: Over 1.1 Million Igloo Coolers Due to Injury Risks

Igloo Products Corporation has announced a significant recall affecting over 1.1 million of its 90 Quart Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers due to potential safety hazards. The recall, which includes more than 40 different models, was issued after reports surfaced indicating that the tow handles could pinch and crush users' fingers against the cooler. This alarming safety concern comes in light of more than 12 reported injuries in the United States, including serious incidents such as fingertip amputations, bone fractures, and lacerations.

The recalled coolers, which come in various color combinations, were sold at numerous retail locations across the country, including major chains like Costco, Target, and Dick’s Sporting Goods. Additionally, consumers could purchase these coolers online through platforms such as Amazon and Igloo’s official website. The units under recall were manufactured between August 2018 and December 2023, and only those produced prior to January 2024 are affected.

To determine if a cooler is part of the recall, consumers should check the model number and manufacture date code. The model number is a five-digit code found on a label located on the bottom or side of the cooler. The manufacture date code will feature an arrow pointing to a number indicating the month of production, with the year displayed opposite the arrow. If the model number and manufacture date code correspond to one of those listed in the recall notice, consumers are advised to stop using the cooler immediately.
