MadeGood Granola Bars Recall: Over 2.4 Million Cases Affected by Safety Hazard

Riverside Natural Foods, Inc. has voluntarily recalled more than 2.4 million cases of MadeGood granola bars due to potential safety hazards. The recall, announced on December 9, 2024, received a Class II classification from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This classification indicates a moderate risk to consumers, as it pertains to the potential presence of metal in the products.

The recall affects a total of 2,408,883 cases of MadeGood granola bars manufactured between January and November 2024. The products were distributed extensively across Canada, the United States, and various international markets. Despite the extensive sales—amounting to hundreds of millions of bars—MadeGood received only seven complaints related to the matter.

The FDA employs a classification system for recalls that ranges from Class I to Class III, with Class II signifying a moderate level of risk. The presence of metal poses a potential safety hazard that necessitated this proactive measure by MadeGood. According to the company, the potential contaminant was described as a "small, flat brush bristle" found within the granola bars.

Consumers who have purchased the affected products are advised to check their inventory and dispose of any recalled items. For further assistance, MadeGood has established a Consumer Hotline at 855-215-5695, available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST. Additionally, consumers can find more information on the MadeGood website.

MadeGood granola bars are widely available at retail locations, including Amazon, Target, Whole Foods, Wegmans, and CVS stores, among others. The company has urged customers to remain vigilant and report any concerns regarding their products.
