Lara Trump, 42, wife of Eric Trump, gears up for the upcoming inauguration, selecting distinguished designers for her attire. She plans to grace the inauguration balls in a gown crafted by Oscar Garcia-Lopez, the Cuban-born, Miami-based designer whose creations she wore at the 2017 inauguration. Additionally, she will don a Chiara Boni dress for the Sunday candlelight dinner with donors, reflecting her previous choice in 2017. Trump will also dress her children, Luke, 7, and Carolina, 6, who are eagerly anticipating their grandfather's significant day.
Lara Trump expressed her desire to replicate the essence of the 2017 inauguration through her fashion choices.
“I wanted to mimic the same things that happened [in 2017], because it was a really, really incredible time then and we’re hoping for the same now,”
she remarked, underlining the sentimental value of this event.
Despite her meticulous planning, she did not consult Eric Trump regarding her outfit choices.
“Oh gosh, he’s probably seen me put these things on multiple times and he probably hasn’t even realized it. He trusts my judgment on all of this,”
she stated humorously. She further added that she has been assisting Eric with his own attire, a task she believes many wives undertake.
“And in fact, I’ve had to assist him in his own outfit as well, as probably many wives are doing in general.”
With executive authority granted by President-elect Donald Trump to his family over their inaugural fashion decisions, Lara Trump appreciates the autonomy given to them.
“I think he knows, at this point, we all sort of get what to do, and he trusts us,”
she noted. She emphasized that there are more pressing matters than wardrobe selections.
“There are a lot bigger fish to fry than what we’re going to all wear for the inauguration.”
Interestingly, Lara Trump admitted that there has been no coordination among the Trump women regarding their outfits.
“A lot of people have asked me if those of us in the family talked about different colors so we don’t match, but we have not,”
she explained. This leads to an element of surprise for everyone involved.
“So I guess it will be kind of a surprise to all of us when we show up on Monday.”
In choosing her attire, Lara Trump aims to strike a balance between patriotic colors and elegance.
“I always want to err on the side of patriotic colors, but not go too overboard. So I will say that I feel I will achieve that,”
she asserted confidently.
Reflecting on her personal journey since the last inauguration, she shared,
“This is a new one for me because I was actually pregnant with my son, who’s my oldest, at the inauguration in 2017,”
marking a poignant moment as she prepares for this year's event.
