Lisa's journey into the world of nail artistry began after she left her position as a table games dealer at a casino. The transition to full-time nail art came in the wake of Melbourne's extensive COVID-19 lockdown. Reflecting on this shift, Lisa stated,
“I started right out of COVID — Melbourne had a big lockdown so I started doing nails full time.”

“I realized that what I need to do to be different is to think outside the box with my designs.”
Lisa's typical appointments last around 2.5 hours, though she occasionally takes on more elaborate projects that can extend up to 14 hours. Despite the time commitment, she manages her schedule by accepting only one to two clients each week. Her clients pay anywhere from $110 to $140 per hour for her exceptional work.
Drawing inspiration from old Alexander McQueen runway shows, Lisa ensures that each design is a distinct and original piece. Her inclination towards complexity is evident in her statement,
“I don’t like being simple or plain, I like shocking people.”
This approach has not only distinguished her in the Melbourne nail art scene but has also contributed to her financial success. In a prosperous month, Lisa earns approximately $8,000 to $9,000 through nail artistry, coupled with social media and brand deals.
Lisa's reputation for bold and innovative designs was part of her initial vision when she began her career. She recollected,
“When I first started doing nails, I knew I wanted to be the one known in Melbourne for doing crazy designs.”
