NHTSA Investigates Evenflo Revolve360 Car Seat for Safety Concerns

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has launched an investigation into the safety of the Evenflo Revolve360 car seat. This action follows six incidents where the seat reportedly detached during car crashes. Concerns have arisen regarding the car seat's compliance with standard labeling requirements and operating procedures related to its detachable base. Despite these concerns, Evenflo continues to market its Revolve360 models, which were first introduced in 2021. The NHTSA aims to gather more information to assess whether a recall is necessary.

Reports indicate that the NHTSA was informed of at least six accidents involving different Revolve360 models. In each case, the car seat's shell separated from its base during impact, raising significant safety concerns. The investigation will focus on whether these car seats meet the necessary safety standards and if the issues identified warrant a recall.

Evenflo remains committed to addressing these concerns while continuing to sell the Revolve360. The company emphasizes that safety is paramount and that they are eager to address any issues identified by the NHTSA.

"Safety is our top priority, and we look forward to addressing the agency's concerns," said Amy Magee, VP of Marketing at Evenflo.

The Revolve360 car seats offer a unique feature that allows parents to rotate the seat for easier access to their child, a selling point since their release in 2021. Evenflo asserts that these car seats meet NHTSA approval, as confirmed by What to Expect's car seat guide. The company reassures customers of their dedication to high-quality and secure products.

"We remain dedicated to providing high-quality and secure products for families," Amy Magee reiterated.

The NHTSA's ongoing investigation will collect additional data concerning the potential detachment issue. This process is crucial in determining whether the Revolve360's design and functionality align with safety standards. Until then, parents are encouraged to stay vigilant.

"At this time, we recommend that families currently using Revolve360 review and follow the instructions provided in the product manual for the proper installation and use," advised Amy Magee.

Parents can remain informed about any developments by registering their car seats with Evenflo or through the NHTSA's website. This registration ensures they receive timely updates on any recalls or safety advisories.

"However, it's always advisable to stay informed about any updates or recommendations from the manufacturer or relevant authorities in case there are developments in the investigation or safety guidelines in the future," commented Suzanne Chan, D.N.P.

Evenflo maintains confidence in their product's safety under proper installation conditions.

"All information available to Evenflo indicates that a properly installed and latched Revolve360 will perform safely as intended," assured Amy Magee.
